Evenfall - A fantasy webcomic - logo
evenfall
n. (1814): the beginning of evening; dusk; twilight

"In a comics industry overrun with tired storytelling and misguided reinventions of classic characters, it's comforting to know that independent artists and writers like Pete Stathis exist. Reminiscent of Neil Gaiman's dreamlike stories, Stathis' saga is highlighted by an emotional core generally lacking in fantasy comics."

City Paper Cover
Hey, everyone! Here is the comic I cranked out a couple of weeks ago for the cover of Philadelphia Citypaper. They liked it so much that they gave me some ink, too. Keep on reading! Phoebe is just begining her grand adventure!

Wizard World Philly Recap (Next stop, MoCCA in NYC)

Skink the Evil Minion
…and welcome to a ssssssspecial EVIL edition of the blog. My most splendid and omnipotent Master, the Dark One, bade me come and greet you, the loyal evil readership of Evenfall. What’sss that, you say? You aren’t evil? Nonsensssse! Everyone who reads this book is evil to the bone — black-hearted and cruel! In truth, some of the BIGGEST names in evil are HUGE Evenfall fansss. Just take a look at who stopped by the Evenfall table at Wizard World Philadelphia this weekend…

Likes men with smooth shiny heads

Yessss, my little bits — that IS the Baroness! And looking delectable, I might add. Not one of the most illustrious names in Evil, but a certainly a piece on the board. After a long day of kicking captive Joes in the teeth with her combat boots, the Baroness likes to unwind in a hot bath with a nice copy of Evenfall.
But wait… who’s this?

Beware the Alien Suicide Bomber

Do you want to talk body counts? Do you want to talk carnage, and blood, and gutssss? A clossse, persssonal friend of mine, the Predator tells me he always keeps a copy of Evenfall on board for those long insterstellar flights in between slaughter-festsss.

Moving on, then…

Nya! He-Man!

Ahhhh… Now we are getting into the upper ranksss! A major, MAJOR player in the Evil community, Skeletor confided in me that when his constant defeat at the hands of He-Man gets him down, he pages through Evenfall to find evil inspiration for his next fell plot.

Not that you need any more convincing, but I’ve saved the darkest, most puisssssant Evil Creature of them all (excepting my Master, of course) for lassst…

Run, children!

Yesss… only in the darkest corners of the netherworlds is the dreaded name "Elmo" uttered. His white fur always stained crimson with the blood of his latest kill, Elmo is so infamous, he has an ENTIRE WORLD named after him. And Evenfall is his dark bible.

Ssso, my little treats, to sssum up: you are Evil, I am Evil, and that’sss… okay. Be sure to come out and visit us at the very EEEVIL Evenfall table at MoCCA in NYC this weekend. Long live the Serpent King!

Pheeb and Don must go to the con!
Welcome note!
May 20th, 2008 12:10 pm EST

Hi! And welcome to the first blog entry for the Evenfall webcomic! I’m Phoebe Shankar, and this is a story about me. I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by, even though Pete’s totally being rude by not even bothering to come out and welcome you to his own website. Nevertheless, I—

Wait, what? I’m being RUDE, now?! I told you: I’m too busy writing and drawing to do this stuff! You said you’d handle it! I don’t understand what the big — Never mind. Just tell them about the comic!

Okay, okay! Relax! Jeez. So, Evenfall is a way cool comic! But you don’t have to take my word for it — you can see all the awesome stuff people are saying about it on the Reviews page of this site. It’s a story about love and loss, friendship, adventure, mystery, magic — and it even has one of those quest thingies in it! Plus lots of scary—

Quest thingies?! QUEST THINGIES??!! Do you have any IDEA how long it takes me to come up with this stuff?!

Well, I don’t know! What do you want me to call it?

What do I want you to — How about saying it’s a meticulously crafted heroic epic journey with Campbellian structure and Jungian archetypes?!! How about that?!!

Aren’t you supposed to be drawing? You know, it’s a good thing it IS me out here, because the last thing we need is you having like seven conniptions in front of these nice people. Why don’t you take a deep breath and try to unwind your spaz while I wrap this up, ‘kay?

Wha?! Buh… GAAAHH!!
